27. STANFORD CARDINAL (31-25)
Despite being unranked at the end of last season, big things are expected from the Cardinal in 2011. Stanford returns four of their top five batters, led by shortstop Kenny Diekroeger (.356, 5, 41) and Stephen Piscotty (.326, 4, 36) who
received recognition as the Top Prospect from the Alaska Summer Collegiate League. Despite the ample returns on offense, it is the pitching staff that is expected to stir the Cardinal drink. Brett Mooneyham (3-7, 5.07) and Jordan Pries (4-4, 4.07) who both have been
starters since their freshmen years
are favorites of professional scouts and Brian Busick (5-2, 4.07) gives long time Head Coach
Mark Marquess, his 35th year as Stanford's skipper, a third experienced starter.
