2011 PRESEASON ALL AMERICAN TEAMS
It will be a whole new ball game when college players step back onto the diamond this spring. New bat changes will affect players' performances and game strategy, innovations in playing rules will make for shorter contests and the College World Series will have a new home for the first time in more than sixty years. Despite the changes however, one thing remains constant. The players who step to the plate and take to the mound will continue to thrill and entertain fans across the nation as they play for school pride, professional aspirations and most importantly, the love of the game.
This year should be a particularly exciting affair with a wealth of returning and developing players returning to the field. A dozen players who finished last season as First Team All Americans will be back on the field including Anthony Rendon, last year's Dick Howser Trophy winner and projected first selection of the 2011 MLB amateur draft. Also back between the lines are a pair of former first round draft picks (Garret Cole, UCLA and Matt Purke, TCU), last year's CWS Most Outstanding Player (Jackie Bradley Jr, South Carolina), the inaugural College Baseball Homerun Derby winner (Paul Hoilman, ETSU) and a player on the cusp of having the longest hitting streak in the history of college baseball (Garret Wittles, FIU).
