TINO MARTINEZ AWARD

2012 Tino Award Semifinalists List

As a part of our effort to promote and celebrate college baseball, College Baseball Lineup was one of the primary forces in the creation of the Tino Martinez DII Player of the Year Award.

Collaborating with former Tampa Spartan, Olympian and MLB All-Star Tino Martinez, the annual honor helps recognize skilled student-athletes for their performance on the field.

The 2011 edition of the award was won by Chase Larsson of Cameron University. The slugging 6'4" outfielder from Vancouver, BC, finished the season for the Aggies leading DII in home runs (29), RBI (84), slugging percentage (1.000) and total bases (190). He also finished the regular season batting .432, good for 11th overall in the nation.

The inagural winner of the award in 2010 was Bryan Fogle from Erskine College. The Flying Fleet senior hit .430 with 23 doubles, 28 home runs and 103 RBI and led the nation in home runs, RBI's, and total bases. His award winning season allowed him to surpass the NCAA career records for home runs (73), RBI's (310), and total bases (630).
